GREAT EAST – MAY 24

Great East Permission Slip

(Permission slip is also found on the forms page of our website).

The Fowler School Grades 7/8 Concert Band will be performing at the Great East Festival on Friday, May 24th.  This is an all-day trip.  We will leave Fowler School at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 9:30 p.m.  The day will include a performance to be adjudicated by experts in the field of music education and a day of fun at 6 Flags Amusement Park in Agawam, MA.

Students wishing to participate must audition by May 10th.  Sign up sheets will be posted in the band room with multiple times available.

Once again, special t-shirts will be provided for the event.  Band members must wear khaki (beige) shorts or pants for the performance.  Shorts must be “camp length.”

Because of the generosity of the Fowler Music Parents Group the student fee will be $30 (includes transportation, t-shirt, performance, and admission to the park).  The actual cost would have been more than double if not for the substantial fundraising work of our parent group.  Financial concerns should not prevent any student from attending the festival.  Please contact me in confidence if this is an issue.

We will be eating our lunch in a shady area near the performance site (West Springfield High School – 2:05 p.m. performance).  Students should bring a bag lunch.  No outside food or drink is permitted into the amusement park.  Students should bring some cash for snacks/dinner in the park.  Unfortunately, the park food is very expensive.

Students must return the permission slip (link below) and $30 fee to Mr. Brisson by Friday, May 10th** The fee for students returning the permission slip and fee later than May 10th is $40.  No slips and fees will be accepted after May 17th **. Checks should be made payable to the Maynard Music Association-Fowler School.

Thank you,

Bill Brisson
